Our ex-reviewer Semen was unable to finish his last album, due to lack of time. It is my turn now to try to review this album by Shodaboi from France. The album is entitled MILF, a term that stands for Mom I’d Like (To) Fuck as many of you might know. I wasn’t really expecting high quality grindcore, but what I heard really surprised me and it was not really positive.

 

The album starts out with some typical French grinding like Inhumate and Yattai, but the riffs tend to mathcore during the song. However, there is no single point in this album where I was really impressed. The tempo is dull, and does not change over the course of the album. I was disappointed that there were no extreme blastings or hyperspeed grinding, but not every grindcore band is based on speed. The vocals are a little bit more interesting, but I was hoping for a pitch shifter, which unfortunately did not come. Another problem is that their lyrics are all in French, and my French is about as good as my Japanese… I have the feeling that the lyrics are damn funny, but I can’t understand anything of it. Well, musically this band tries a lot, but accomplishes next to nothing in my opinion. The riffs are simply dull, and every song tends to slowness and irritation. Okay, maybe there is one song that’s actually very cool to listen to, but I did not find it.

 

This album is not really what I expected, it’s even way less than I expected. Don't get me wrong, because I'm usually quite into hardcore-touched-grindcore, but this just wasn't it. Oh, I think I remember the term Shodaboi again. Did anyone see the movie Orgasmo? In case you were wondering about the bandname, watch it and you’ll know it. There is nothing sane left I can tell you about this album, so this pretty much concludes it then.
