First I have to make some confessions. I (to be polite) don’t like punk bands like U.S. Bombs and One Man Army at all, Mad Sin on the other hand sounds better. Second I don’t know jack shit about country music besides what I heard on The Dukes Of Hazard basically. But lately I’ve been picking up some country music in my system and it’s quite nice actually. Must be the weather. Chip luckily just comes along at the right time. Because what this album offers is some top-notch life-enjoying cowboy country rock, fit for a barn dance with an astronomical amount of beer.

 

The styles Chip and his friends use go from Americana, bluegrass, honky tonk, rockabilly, to psychobilly, Orange County  and California street punk if I should believe the bio, but I’m not that good in actually tracing down the aspects of those styles in the songs. But I do hear a band that really puts down a steady sound. Chip certainly proves to be a country boy at heart. Rocking drums, a plucking and slapping bass, rattling guitars and a happy howling honky tonk roadhog.

 

Well, if you like country (perhaps from a more punkrock direction) check it out. If you hate the stuff, don’t bother. Simple as that. I dig it though. Perhaps you will too.
