Annunaki - Throne Of The Annunaki
Annunaki were a group of gods in the old Mesopotamian mythology that according to the Sumerian people formed a high council of the gods. So far the history lessons about the Annunaki, because it’s also a metal band from the United States. A band that was formed in 2005 and started demoing in 2006. At the end of 2006 Annunaki has shared stages with Deicide, Anal Cunt and Painmuseum and they started to record their debut album Throne Of The Annunaki.

Finally an album that starts without any sort of intro on the contrary to a lot of other new albums nowadays. The first song ‘Through Chaos’ blows right out of the speakers from the start of this album without any sort of warning. Their typical death metal style has many influences from several great bands. Mostly bands like Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel and Vader are circling through my head when I listen to this album.

Production wise Annunaki has led themselves by the ´more is less´ principle. The sound is very open and none of the instruments is present in an annoying way. Of course we got to thank Alan Douches (Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse, Nile) for this, but it’s not only his work. The songs are mostly well structured, easy to pick up and well to follow.

Overall Throne Of The Annunaki certainly isn't a bad album. There is only one major disadvantage. The songs on this album are too much alike, which gives you the feeling you’ve heard it before and you get bored very easily. But on the other hand, considering this is Annunaki’s debut album it’s not bad at all. Let’s put it this way: I heard a lot of debut albums that were worse than this one.
