Cyborn - Light is Passin'
From the Stoner and New Orleans inspired heritage of Born 33, a creature named Cyborn became conscious in the spring of 2003, Electro roots sprouting from a Space Rock substrate.
Last week I received the EP from Cyborn. The EP is called Light is Passin and was released in September 2003. It isnt a very big EP and contains 4 songs. But a great disadvantage is that 2 songs are remixes from the second track of the EP. This song is called Space Jungle and is a mix between Rock and DrumnBass. The sound of the band is unusual because of this mix. The vocals are pretty good but monotone. A bit more variety should improve the EP. But overall this Hungarian band is doing good. The EP looks attractive and the sound of the first song is like a jewel.
The Cold Northern Light Mix is a remix that could end up on a soundtrack from a film like the Matrix. The influence of DrumnBass is huge. It is always great what a DJ can do with a song. The remixes on this EP prove this fact, they sound great, especially the Jamaica mix. This is completely different song than the original.
Overall the EP is a good start for this Hungarian band but the EP is to short to view the potentials of the band. But if you want to listen to a band that is mixing different styles and than remix these styles, the EP Light is Passin is there for you. Short but original for a first EP!
