Raging Speedhorn - Before The Sea Was Built
Oomph. Now this is the last thing I want to listen to today. I'll be honest with you, and tell you that I've had a certain confusing experience today that left me kind of depressed, cold and stuck inside my own head. With a deadline approaching, Raging Speedhorn's Before The Sea Was Built entered my cd-player. A collection of sludgy, downy, chaotic songs. Or songs.. Fucking noise. Sounds like someone who's had a confusing experience that has left him depressed cold and stuck inside his own head.
With a line-up change involving new vocalist Bloody Kev and bassist Dave Thompson, still not a lot seems to have changed. It's the same angry, everything but melodic assault on something. Actually quite negative as apposed to energetic, ugly as apposed to dark and angry. A combination of doom, death, sludge and screamish music. Fucked.
Raging Speedhorn are taking a homogenious approach to their music, and have an own sound. The days of searching seem to be over. Still, Before The Sea Was Built is their darkest and depressed heap of sludge to date. That's hardly a critique, that's merely an observation. Other than that it's the Speedhorn we already knew from their last couple of albums.
'Too Drunk to Give a Fuck'..
This is music for blowing your or someone else's brains out. To me, life's worth much more than that.
