Exhumed - Anatomy Is Destiny
This is truly one of the greatest grindcore albums that has ever reached my ear holes. It bites you, tears out some vital organs, spits em on the ground and burns them with steaming napalm. Grinding fucking madness!!!!! Since Im going to the No Mercy festival I thought that it would be a good idea to check out some of the bands that I didnt know. I now know that Exhumed is the best band playing there. Opening the album with the eerie title track Anatomy Is Destiny which is some guitar humming that last little over a minute, only to annihilate you with one of the best tracks on the album; Waywork. My other favourites are The Matter Of Splatter, Nativity Obscene A Nursery Chyme and Death Walks Behind You which has a riff that looks like a riff from the Dutch hardcore band Insult (RIP). You can really notice that a lot of thrash metal is included in Exhumeds grindcore, especially when you hear some solos. Sounds like Kerry King lend a hand while recording this album or something! Grind and thrash make a great combination, but if youre reading this review on purpose I wont have to tell you that! The guitar/vocal duo Matt & Mike kick ass once again on this album, the high screams and the low grunts work every time, as well as the string molesting. The new bass player seems to be a great addition to the band as well, because in my opinion this is the best album on the area of technique brought out by Exhumed up till now. Also on the area of artwork they seem to be more mature, not the ordinary nasty body parts photographed in a microwave, but artistic murder pictures. There are a few points that I have to mention. Exhumed does not have the greatest grindcore drummer in the world, but he tries and Im happy with the result. But the extreme drum freaks wont be impressed I fear. And the lyrics, no one should be asked to read this stuff, only doctors who are into grindcore. So, this is one of the greatest grind albums. If youre into grind, buy this album! There no escaping!
