Tool, A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan finally released the album of his solo project Puscifer and is entitled V Is For Vagina. The man is becoming a legend in the world of experimental music and for this project he included various great musicians like Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk from Audioslave, Tim Alexander from Primus and former King Crimson member Trey Gunn. Maynard describes the music as ‘the space where my Id, Ego, and Anima all come together to exchange cookie recipes’.

After listening to the album several times I must conclude there is something magical in that space of Maynard. He created a dynamic, grooving album with outbursts on which the listener is hypnotized. Thanks to the big army of brilliant musicians Maynard delivers a varied album with funky songs like ‘Queen B’ or ‘Mommy Sed’ and more industrial songs like ‘Vagina Mine’. And I must say it takes a couple of spins before you get into this record.

It may be clear there is another side to the frontman which leads Tool and A Perfect Circle and he is showing this on ‘V Is For Vagina’. Maynard already announced there are no touring plans with this act but he is talking with several directors to make movies to accompany the music. For the fans, the track ‘Rev 20:20’ was already in the Saw II film.

Maynard found the outlet for the other side of his creative mind. That combined with great packaging and various legends creates a magnificent product for the boundary searching music freaks. It sure isn’t a record for the masses.
