It’s always hard to judge a band according to two songs, but sometimes you have to. This is for example the case with Shraphead from Norway. The band exists since 2004 and has now released it’s second demo. With Shraphead’s previous EP Ageless they received some very positive feedback, so I was curious if I could do the same for this release.
When I put on the first song of the demo, called ‘Stolen Trust’, it immediately became clear that this band is very talented with their fresh, but heavy sound. The only thing that bothers me is that there are only two songs on this EP, because I want to hear more music from these four guys! Especially the voice of Jo is by far the best thing about their music. Jo has a very strong voice, which perfectly fits the music. It’s heavy, but not too heavy for somebody who likes mainstream rock. The frustrating part is that his voice reminds me of some other vocalist, but I can’t remember who… Their melodic approach also works out very well.
I hope that when these guys release their debut album we from Metalrage.com (and myself in particular) receive a copy of it, because I’m really curious if they can release a full-length with the same power, intensity and conviction as this demo.
