Paganus - Paganus
The third and final release we received from Totalrust Music is the self-titled debut album of Finnish doomers Paganus. This is probably also the nicest one of the three, so let's review.
The sound of Paganus is best compared with doom legends like Burning Witch and Khanate, which means dark and punishing heavy doom. The songs are of good quality and the recording/production is very nice. A good plus on this record is that here finally I hear a good vocalist, with good variation and a nice raw sound. This is a very nice debut indeed!
The four songs offer crushing heavy doom combined with gentle depressing soundscapes, which ensures the dynamic level of this album is well managed. Together with the clear but doomy production one can conclude that this is a worthy release, recommendable for people into extreme and depressing doom.
