Hailing from Santa Cruz, Decrepith Birth has been at it since 2001 and has undergone many line-up changes. This death metal band revolving around guitarist Matt Sotelo has seen some great drummers behind their kit, like Kevin Talley ad Tim Yeung, but they have also had to deal with a paedophile in their ranks. None of this stopped them, for here lies Diminishing Between Worlds, their latest effort.

 

Decrepit Birth is a high-speed, brutal, technical death metal band that produces high quality songs. Diminishing Between Worlds has a nice production, so the fast-paced songs don’t get slobbered up in all the chaos. At first I felt a bit like I was listening to yet another death metal copycat, but the more I played the disc, the more I liked it. The songs are well arranged and have a good dose of intensity and ferocity, bound to please most fans of extreme death metal.
 

I think the band has now finally managed their line-up problems by adding three members of the band Odious Mortem on bass, guitar and drums. The band is due for a European tour quite soon, and I’m very curious to seeing them at the Neurotic Deathfest. I think that after seeing this band in a live environment that I will really be able to decide whether I like this band or not.

 

There’s not much more to say, other than that all death metal heads should check this out because I can’t find one single reason why they shouldn’t do so.
