Norway is famous for its great black metal bands, but we must not forget that there are also promising bands outside the black metal genre. Prophetic, for example, brings us “jawbreaking metal” if I have to believe the band’s bio. Because metal always has been an integral part of Norway’s musical culture the five members from Prophetic all have a background with a wide range of influences, which they use in their own creative process. With Legacy Of The Fallen they now have released their debut MCD through their own label.
With their music, Prophetic has a lot to offer to the listener. The songs which are presented on this release are heavy and aggressive, yet without forgetting about the melody. The hardcore metal of these five guys is grooving track by track and the songs are really pushed to a higher level by the melodic guitar riffs. The music is played with a lot of power and energy and has some very nice headbanging moments in it. The production of this album could have been a little bit better, but for a debut you don’t hear me complaining about that.
If you like modern hardcore metal which has to be groovy and melodic, try Prophetic. As a matter of fact I’m already hoping they will also send me their next release.
