Flying Fortress - Man-Made Noise
Quite some time ago I received the information that members of Astrosoniq were going to form a new label, in order to help new Dutch acts shed the label of obscure and unknown and give them a bigger audience. The first release is a double split LP of the bands Sweet Assembler and Flying Fortress, of which I received both promo copies. Let’s check it out!

Flying Fortress plays rock (‘n’ roll), but with a very distinctive sound. The songs take a while to really get through to you, but when they do you hear why. Because they’re damn good! The band mixes stoner with the sound of the seventies and adds a little grunge here and there. This results in a mild, yet heavy sound. Very suitable for easy listening as well as rocking out to.

The eight tracks on Man-Made Noise definitely convinced me of the abilities of this band, I’m glad the guys from Astrosoniq decided to start Space Jam Records and let this band be heard. The only thing I’m not completely sure about are the vocals from Matthijs Snijders, but they’re not annoying either so no real problem in that area either. Fans of alternative, yet heavy (slightly vintage perhaps?) rock should definitely give this band a try.
