Leandra - Metamorphine
Leandra isn´t a real fresh (wo)man in the metalscene. She also plays keys in the band Jesus On Extasy a band with which I´m not familiar with. So this is my first encounter with Leandra, and with the frontcover of this CD in mind (a naked lady in front of a piano, unfortunately with her back towards the viewer), this could be a nice encounter.
Leandra is responsible for almost everything on this album except the guitars, though the role of the guitars on this disc is quite limited. She serves us an album consisting of some gothic-like elements (a bit of an eerie, haunting atmosphere) and electro influences (the programming), hence the above mentioned genre. Mind you this has nothing to do with metal.
And that´s a shame. Her music namely, lends itself superbly for some metal eruptions after some haunting key parts. This is an element that I dearly miss; because of this lack of eruptions her music becomes quite dull. It´s the same atmosphere in every song, which makes the album as a whole quite hard to digest for 55 minutes straight. I experienced that when I listened to a few songs in a row, I found her music quite entertaining. But a whole album without any suprises? Nahh…that just doesn´t do it for me.
