Allerjen - No Guts No Glory
Allerjen from Manchester started in 1999 under the name Sphere and according to their bio they're taking the old fashion way of hard work and touring a lot just to spread their name. Well you could say the hard work is getting to pay off because they already released their second full-length album called No Guts No Glory.
Starting the title track with a feedbacking guitar which is immediately followed by the rest of the instruments, didn’t impress me that much and unfortunately my opinion didn’t change during the first track. It all sounded just too simple as if it has been done before a million times. Their mixture of metal, death metal and hardcore sounds a bit like Sepultura combined with Entombed and bit of Pro-Pain. Overall quite an obvious mix.
Okay it’s clear that originality isn’t the strongest point of Allerjen so let’s see where Allerjen does score some points. After a couple of tracks I’m not convinced by Allerjen that their tracks are great mosh material, it probably won’t go any further than grabbing a beer and checking my email instead of moshing through my living room. So let’s see what else Allerjen could convince me of. Well it’s not the artwork, because the transformer rip off on the front is just too hideous.
