One year after their last CD Hate Is The Law, German death metallers Ancient Existence treat us to yet again a grooving album of pure death metal. Stand up, grab your air guitar and start headbanging along for the ride, because what you’re about to hear is Death Fucking Metal.

'Cyclone’ immediately makes for a grand opener of this album with the straight-to-the-point title. The vocals consequently point out that Death Fucking Metal is a title perfectly chosen, because the low, guttural growls can impossibly be mistaken for Mariah Carey’s vocal prowess. The music that comes with the growls points towards the old school of death metal. The pace of the songs is lower than your average blastbeats-rule-everything death metal band. The riffs on the contrary are everything but boring. The groovy rhythms and nifty guitar solos, like in the instrumental 'Hymn For The Doomed’, know how to break the tension on a record filled with extreme music.

The fact that there are actually recognizable and well-written melodies on a 100% death metal album, made me glee with happiness. Of course, heavy and brutal stuff is also featured on this disc. For all you drooling and pit-forming no-brainers out there; no need to worry. Take ‘My Warpath’, for instance. Low-pitched and slow, yet groovy in rhythm, this song shows that Ancient Existence has mastered all tools of the trade.
