Lyfthrasyr - The Recent Foresight
Lyfthrasyr. It took me some time to be actually able to read this. I’m still not sure whether it is pronounced correctly. I know that it is real cool to have a none-commercial name to stay true to the underground, but if you release an album that sounds as good as The Recent Foresight it does raise the question why you wouldn’t choose a more simple name. It kinda helps spread the word around the metal community.

That being said Lyfthrasyr isn’t the newest best thing in metal. Their second album contains fast aggressive metal in the vain of Dimmu Borgir. Vocally it reminds me a bit of Cradle of Filth. The album contains 7 songs plus an intro which are all damn well performed. This trio from Germany has everything well in order. I can’t really name a highlight on the album, ‘Exhaling the Spirit of Time’ is a good candidate though.

This is recommendable for fans of the new breed of black metal bands. Just don’t expect to find anything new on this.
