Ravens Creed was formed in late 2006 by two ex-members of bands like Iron Monkey, Cerebral Fix, Undergroove and Skyclad to name a few. Based in the UK, the band contacted Orange Goblin vocalist Ben Ward and bassist Martyn Millard to complete the foursome and record this 7 inch entitled Militia Of Blood Sacrifice, which is now re-released on disc by Iron Pig Records.

 

Ravens Creed offers four tracks of mid-tempo, grooving old school thrash/death metal. The drums are very primitive and the guitar sound is far from smooth, think of bands like Toxic Holocaust for instance. Rock ‘n roll is the key for this band, and they’re here to do it in the most nasty way you can imagine. I mean this guitar sound is really fucked up. I can’t make up my mind what to think of it, yet somehow it appeals to me.

 

Anyways, Ravens Creed didn’t come to reinvent any genre whatsoever, they just came to rock out in the nastiest way they could think of. And they bring Orange Goblin vocalist Ben Ward to sing on it. Other members of the band have already left though, but I guess that shouldn’t really matter since the two founding members are still present. The band has just completed their first UK tour and is preparing to record their third record. Curious to find out whether I will still enjoy it for a full record, because these ten minutes are very well manageable. Check it out if you dig some real nasty rocking mid-tempo metal.
