Ground Of Ruin - Cloaked In Doctrine EP
The Irish blackened thrash/death metal outfit Ground Of Ruin has released a handful of demo records en EPs, of which Cloaked In Doctrine is their latest effort. Let’s see what these lads are up to.
Ground Of Ruin has recorded three tracks and a way too long intro to start them. The bands plays a mixture of metal that leans mostly towards thrash metal and mid-tempo death metal, but the overall production sound gives a bit of a black metal feeling. This feeling is also caused by the harsh, evil vocals of Dave Hynes. The three songs all have a nice groove to it and are a nice listen for the average thrash metal head, yet as with most thrash metal bands emerging nowadays, originality is very hard to be found on Cloaked In Doctrine.
That about concludes it, nothing new under the sun, but yet another nice (slightly mediocre perhaps) addition to the blackened thrash metal scene. I’m curious to find out how these guys hold up with a full length effort though.
