Black Diamond Heavies - A Touch Of Someone Else's Class
Don’t get me wrong, I like rock ‘n’ roll music. But not so much the kind that has been done a million times by a million bands. Luckily every once in a while a band manages to pleasantly surprise me in this genre, and Black Diamond Heavies is exactly such a band. This duo from the South of the U.S. has just delivered a new record entitled A Touch Of Someone Else’s Class, which is a pearl among rock ‘n’ roll. Read on and find out why.

These two guys describe their style of music as grungy, dirty blues punk rock ‘n’ roll with a heavy greasy touch of soul. I can’t give you a more accurate description. With a raw, vintage production this duo gives rock ‘n’ roll a new face, and even though it is an ugly one, it’s an enjoyable one. No guitars, only drums, a variety of organs and other key instruments (also for bass) and a two vocal attack. The record kicks in immediately with the rawest version of Tina Turner’s ‘Nutbush City Limit’ which sets the mood perfectly. And that mood is filled with booze, smoke and rocking out like a retard, just my kind of music!

Recorded in a mere three days (they reckon it don’t take long to tell the truth), A Touch of Someone Else’s Class is a must for all (punk)rockers that like a good piece of blues and soul music. They’ll be playing on European soil next month, so don’t hesitate to check these guys out and visit one of their shows! ‘Nuff said, play it loud and rock out!
