Gladenfold - Time Of Departure
Hailing from Finland, Gladenfold is a power/speed metal band with some more harsh, almost black metal vocals next to the usual clean vocal style. The band was formed in 2003 and Time Of Departure is their 2008 EP release. Let’s check these guys out!

The five tracks on this EP are all home-recorded at the keyboardist’s home studio. Considering this fact one has to conclude that the EP sounds quite decent, yet there is more than enough room for improvement. Especially the mixing department can use some upgrading. Gladenfold combines the fast, pumping speed metal rhythms with for this style typical melodies (a lot of keyboard in this area of course) and some harsh, black metal styled vocals. Helping out on this record is the female singer Maria Hannula, who sings on three of the five tracks, creating an extra dimension to the music.

Overall it’s a nice effort that showcases what this band is capable of, yet there is still a lot of room for improvement. Fans of this genre should definitely give these guys a try.
