Letargy Dream - 2
All the way from Moscow, Russia, yet another doom-orientated project released by BadMoodMan Music/Solitude Productions. This one is called Letargy Dream and it’s actually a one man project by a dude named Letarg. He already has four full length albums under his belt, and with this one he has found two more people to form a full band. Let’s see what '2' is all about.
From the bio on their myspace I have to conclude that they’re aiming for an atmospheric metal sound with doom/death metal influences. This is what I hear on this record for sure, be it with some goth influenced passages and atmospheres. The sound the trio puts forward is quite massive and heavy, but also a bit clinical and dry. I’m not experiencing that feeling one should suppose to feel when listening to a good doom metal record. Also all the lyrics are in Russian, which isn’t helping me get into the music either.
Overall these three tracks display that there is talent and potential in this project, but for now I would just aim at the Russian doom metal market. This band doesn’t really add anything to the overall doom metal scene, and the Russian vocals tend to become annoying after about thirty minutes. Maybe next time. Na zdorovje!
