The Psyke Project - Dead Storm
Me and The Psyke Project go back a while now. I first encountered them out of the blue, opening up for a Textures show. I was completely annihilated and blown away by their sheer force and intensity. I reviewed their previous album Apnea which was a very good effort, and then saw them again with a rather disappointing live show. Now they’ve returned to my world with this new record Dead Storm. Will they still be able to deliver the goods?

Hell fucking yes they are! All their previous albums were recorded live in the studio to give them the massive sound this band has, and I feel like Dead Storm is no exception to this. Again a huge wall of sound bursts from my speakers, combining the elements of hardcore, postcore, metal and doom in a superb and overwhelming way. In average I feel like their material is a bit slower and more depressing than before, but in no way does that present a problem. Their sound fits the tempo perfectly and I would about start to consider nominating this band for a Roadburn festival performance. For real.

This stuff will most likely appeal to fans of bands like Neurosis, Cult Of Luna and Isis for sure, but maybe also to fans of heavy as fuck hardcore and metal. For me The Psyke Project is definitely the best Danish metal band I’ve heard, and with this record they prove this point once again. Check it out and be convinced!
