Every once in a while you come across a band that makes you remember the good old times. Those good old times of me started with Skid Row and Guns ‘n Roses, after this it was straight on to the real heavy stuff like Machine Head and Pantera. Still those bands have a special place in my heart. Innocent Rosie hailing from Sweden remembered me of those good old times with their debut album called Bad Habit Romance.

 

According to their biography, Innocent Rosie was formed in the end of 2005 with the intention to create a new form of Rock ‘n Roll by adding their own influences in the music. Well, in my humble opinion they failed miserably. Don’t get me wrong, there are indeed great deals of influences but overall it sounds like the good old sleaze rock and I mean that as a compliment.

 

From the first tones of ´Bitter Cocktail´ the pedal goes to the metal and the party is on. Greasy guitar riffs and powerfull drumming is the core of Innocent Rosie’s music. Add to this some clapping along, sing along choruses, tight leather pants and of course the great lyrics about sex, drugs and rock and roll and you’ll know what to expect from these Swedish sleaze rockers. With songs like ´Animal´ that has a killer chorus, ´Bad Habit Romance´ and ´Left Alone´ they really persuaded me. On the other hand don’t get me started about ´Let A Memory Die` and ´Don’t Drag Me Down´ where the addition of a harmonica really gives that blues vibe or the track 'Wasteland' that has this great groove.

 

So I would say leave those intentions of creating a new form of rock ‘n roll behind and just keep on playing dirty ol' sleaze rock because they are darn good at it. Trust me it’s pretty hard to sit still during this album that could easily be measured to the latest Motley Crüe album.
