This young band called Innosence recorded a demo with some rented machinery and surprisingly it doesn’t sound bad for a home recording/production. Not bad at all actually.
Good guitar riffs, tight drums, but sadly enough I cannot say a lot about the bass because it sort of falls to the background as soon as the guitar goes all out. The vocals (backings and lead) are nice although it sometimes seems to me that the lead singer cannot reach high enough or last long enough at times. These parts are dubbed over on the record, but it will be hard to do this on a show. And this is a live band! So in my opinion the lead vocals need a little work, but I have little doubt that won’t be better on the next record. It seems that this singer can easily put a little raw edge in his voice. If he can get that done, this band can do very well. I’d say this band has potential because the songs are very nice and this band is not around very long.
Especially ‘True believer’. That song and ‘Disappointed’ have multiple backings. The other songs don’t have that. I think it really adds to giving it an energetic sound. And ‘True believer’ is, by far, the best song on the record in my opinion. Check ‘em out at: www.innosence.nl
All in all this is a nice demo. It all sounds promising and I am looking forward to hearing more from this band. Hopefully with better recordings, better vocals and a bass line!
