Eyepatch - Demo
After seeing them perform before Nasum in Arnhem I asked for a demo, because there were parts I liked. Vocalist Marcel responded enthusiastic and gave me one immediately. I apologize to him for the long wait, but here it is finally!

This three track demo can best be described as a beginning metalcore band with tiny hints of something like Shadows Fall here and there. I can’t really mention anything I haven’t heard before on this disc. Musically, it isn’t bad at all, except for some transmissions here and there. There are actually some riffs I like, for example the intro riff for the second track Selfish Martyr. The main cause of irritation is simply the vocals, both clean and scream. You can hear that Marcel struggles to get a bit of a scream out there. And that’s not what we want to hear now is it.

Now I do have to mention that this recording is over a year old, so improvement must have been made by now. For a demo, I can’t complain too much.

I must say that the artwork of this demo pleases me very much. I like the pictures and the black and white thing throughout the artwork. And most of all I like the disc itself, it’s partially see-through.
