End Of Days - Dedicated To The Extreme
End Of Days is a German metal formation that uses plenty of outer-influences, with Hardcore as main-ingredient. Sounds boring? Well yeah, but at least it is one out of a million similar metal(core) acts that does the job well. With great riffs and a good vocalist as the their greatest assets they get away with their not too-original sound quite well. A fine mixture of bands such as Pro-Pain, Sepultura, even some Pantera stuff and modern day popular Metalcore such as Chimaira, Caliban, Heaven Shall Burn and such (but thank god NO boring passages with 14-year-old-friendly clean vocals!) spiked with brutal hardcore passages that might remind the listener of Madball, Hatebreed or even Agnostic Front. The album consists of 10 tracks, all of wich are made of the stuff good agressive shit is built on. The only downside is that the album as a whole might be to homogenous, it just slams from the intro to the last tones of close down Turned To Death. Maybe some more periods of rest or even a solo (did I just commit blasphemy here?) here or there will definitely spice the thing to another level, wherest the album as a whole will be more enjoyable. But the sound (Dedicated To The Extreme was produced by Hatesphere's Jacob Bredahl) is there, and their sound is exiting as it is.. All in all a promising introduction to the world by an enthousiastic bunch of pit-bosses.
This is one of those bands that are a guaranteed hit in your car, driving on the autobahn, and will do fine at parties and make your friends ask you "who is THIS?". A brutal, thumping and agressive blend of styles that will need some drastic adjustment of your equalizer to ensure no perminent damage to your speakers. End Of Days' Dedicated To The Extreme is not a classic, but an effort from a band that might be able to slam their way to the top if they master the art of writing a more complete album and keep on including more third party styles to the cocktail. Remember these guys, I reckon them worth checking out in a club or tour near you this year!
