Ankh - Expect Unexpected
Metalrage is trying hard to cover almost all styles of music for the reviews. Now we have laid our hands on Ankh, a progressive rock band from Poland. Ankh described themselves as a Musical Surgical Operation, and have seen the light in 1991. Since then they have created 5 albums, with Expect Unexpected as the last one. Fans had to wait 5 years for this piece of work, and lets see now if it was worth the waiting.
The album is difficult to listen if you are in the bad mood, so this is what I recommend. Go to your local coffeeshop, get some weed and smoke it. Then just wait a few moments and put the disc in, lay back on your bed or couch and enjoy. First song is The Trick, which is sung in both Polish and English. The comfortable sound works great on the mind and with songs like You And Me, Escape, On The Way and Never you are thrown into another world, the world of Ankh. The music is described as Progressive rock, but its more electronic based. Of course there is some smoothing on the album like the guitars and violin, which gives it a great atmosphere. Now combine the freaky expect passages with the clean sound and youll surely be at ease.
I can only say one thing about this album. Its just great. Why? Well, read above. Its the perfect mood influencer and you should just try to get a hand on this one. The funny fact is that there arent any annoying songs on the album. Just expect the unexpected..
