Mangled - Witness Disposal Program
This band has been working on the road for quite a long time already, since 1989 to be exact. And yes, they are as well from the beautiful part of the Netherlands that is filled with great bands that are all about brutality, Limburg. I also own their previous release, Most Painful Ways, which I picked up for two euro’s once and it proved to be quite all right. So let’s see if they continued that path.

Well, to speak about the music, it has improved quite a bit. It has an enhanced headbanging feel to it, a way better groove and higher technicality. These gentlemen sure haven’t been taking a break for the five years that lie between the two releases. In the style of acts as Vile, Cannibal Corpse and Deeds Of Flesh lies their territory in death metal. Now I’m not a fan of all three of those acts, but this I can definitely appreciate.

And the thing that causes that is probably the vocals. While Most Painful Ways had a heavy grunt to it, this one has a more high pitched scream, coming from the same vocalist as the previous album. That was quite a surprise for me, and a pleasant one too! It makes the style of music a little different from all those other ones I think, which is getting harder and harder these days.

Now if they can bring it live the way bands like Suffocation and Behemoth can, this is bound to go places. If you’re a fan of stuff like that, you’ve just discovered a nice addition to your collection. I wish them the best of luck and hope to see them very soon.
