Waterdown - All Riot
In 2000, Waterdown formed in Osnabruck, Germany, dedicated to finding the perfect mixture of explosive, TNT-fueled hardcore, dark metal and melodic punk. It didn’t take them long. Within their first few shows word reached Victory Records head Tony Brummel, who began a correspondence with the band and shortly thereafter signed them to a contract. Which means that Waterdown must be a quite a promising band if you’d ask me…
Now before I even start writing the actual review, I must admit that it’s not based on the whole album thanks to the lovely mailman who fucked up the CD. Too bad, because I really like the first 8 tracks of this album! Though, I think these first 8 tracks give quite a good impression of Waterdown’s qualities and therefore here it is, my opinion on this album.
“All Riot” this is album is called. And riot it is! During the first track, “Sleep Well”, Waterdown kicks in with an amount of heavy guitars and screams that doesn’t stop until the last (which means 8th) track. Every now and then there’s time for some really nice clean vocals that fit the music perfect. These clean vocals are actually one of those small elements that some bands need to convince me. Waterdown needs ‘em, Waterdown has ‘em, Waterdown convinced me. This music simply is a magnificent combination of hardcore, metalcore and punk. If not, THE combination of hardcore, metalcore and punk.
Waterdown has created an album full of well-structured chaos that just has to be loved by many of you out there. I love it and I hope you will as well! This is not just another emo band from Victory Records, this is Waterdown, high-quality German metal. Check it out!
