Fall Out Boy - From Under The Cork Tree
Rolling Stone has placed this band in their “10 artists to watch” list and they released their Sony BMG debut album last year. Why are we reviewing this album of Fall Out Boy? Because the band is coming to Europe and we wanted to hear some music of this band. The band already released an album called Take This To Your Grave in 2003 which sold more than 200.000 copies.

Fall Out boy can be put in the pop/punk genre and to be honest the music isn’t that bad. It is pretty good actually. But I have to start with the most brilliant thing about this album; the song titles. Here are a few examples: “Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn’t Get Sued” or “I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me”. These titles can be put in the list of brilliant song titles.

The songs of Fall Out Boy are well structured and can be compared with a stronger Lit and a little bit softer Rise Against. My favourites include “I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me”, “Dance, Dance” and “Off All The Gin Joints In All The World”. The last one because it really reminds me to some Lit songs.

Overall the package is well designed and it is clearly these guys are on a major. The production is slick and the cover fits the band and their music. For me this is once again a punk album I might listen more often. Fall Out Boy has presented that they deserve their place in the Rolling Stone “10 artists to watch”!
