Los - Bad Intentions Are Often Hidden Behind Beautiful Gestures
Los hails from Sweden and has been around since 2002. Since then they have released three demo EPs, which resulted in some nice reviews and a number of shows in their home country. Now the time has come to see if they have the potential to go abroad with their music.

The biography names similar artists for this band like Boysetsfire and 36 Crazyfists, and I think they’re in the right direction with that. Los’ music consists of a combination of punk, hardcore, hard rock and metal, so it varies a lot you could say. Well that is the case if you look at it from how much it varies in loudness. There are bombastic riffs, just as well as melodic passages.

But the problem with this band is that after three songs you don’t notice these differences anymore because all songs start to look alike. Even the presence of a bass distortion here and there can’t change that. Interesting riffs are a true rarity on this recording, which is a pity because the production is really good, nice and clean.
Another minor are the vocals. Throughout the album this dude sounds like he just barely doesn’t make it, and that becomes quite annoying as the songs progress. The fact is that he only does emo vocals, varying in no direction. Now usually in this genre it's possible to create not too interesting music with good vocals (just look at Green Day, oops, I hope I’m not stepping on anybody’s toes here!) but that is not the case with Los.

Unfortunately their attempt to go abroad appears to have some minor defects. I do think there is potential in this band, considering it is quite young, but the songs won’t make it into the hit lists if you ask me, while they’re produced and composed like they should.
