Devilyn - The Past Against The Future
Devilyn started out in 1992 under the name Cerebral Concussion with founding members Novy (Vader, ex-behemoth) and Bony. In 1996 they changed their name to Devilyn and the first full-length was recorded. They signed a deal with Listenable Records and brought their first album out under the name Anger. Gigs with Cannibal Corpse and Krabathor followed and in 1998 they began writing new material. In 1999 they released Reborn In Pain. Too bad this didnt worked out that well. Intern problems and fucked up promotion of the new record made it quite silent around Devilyn. The band experienced some line up changes and sounded a new deal with Plastic Head and recorded Artifact in 2001. Now they are working on new material and the record we are going to discuss is a compilation of old tracks and some new tracks.
Its not very simple to write a review about this album, its just a compilation of the best material Devilyn has brought out. The music is pure death metal in all its aspects. Songs like Illusions, An Astral Dream and Testimony are represented on this album. Its just a nice album to listen if you can listen through the somewhat bad recordings. Also included is the Carcass cover Heartwork and a video for the Reborn In Pain song.
If you want to hear some nice, brutal and aggressive death metal, then buy this album and headbang your arse off!!!
The mark given to this album is not representable for the work on the album, it's just useless to try giving a mark for material already brought out.
