If there is one band that experienced ups and downs, it must be Dry Kill Logic. The band has wrecked several vans and RV’s, played more than 700 shows in 15 countries. All of this to support their products of art, 3 full lengths, 2 EPs and 1 DVD in fourteen years. It seems like a long history but the first full length of the band was released on Roadrunner Records in 2001 with the title The Darker Side Of Nonsense. The follow-up The Dead And Dreaming was released in 2004 on SPV and right now the band is about to release their third full length on Repossession Records. After their EP The Magellan Complex earlier this year, this new full length Of Vengeance And Violence is here on my desk.

Dry Kill Logic has impressed me ever since I discovered them. I have played the debut album ‘The Darker Side Of Nonsense’ many times and a lot of us at Metalrage are dying to see these guys live sometime. When Repossession Records approached me for a review of the new album I could hardly wait. And there it was; 13 tracks of pure,  energetic and ‘to the extreme’ Dry Kill Logic songs.

The song structures on Of Vengeance And Violence still remain the same as on the previous albums. You can say Dry Kill Logic is still using the same formula. I can still hear evolvement in the songs of Dry Kill Logic. The faster (or louder) parts which were present on The Dead And Dreaming have made place for more technical parts like in the song ‘Dead Mans Eyes’. Drummer Phil still impresses me with his extreme skills. On the song, which was also on the EP The Magellan Complex, ‘From Victim To Killer’ you can truly hear the qualities of this band. It is one of the faster tracks and is followed by the funniest track ‘The Innocence Of Genius’ which lasts for 27 seconds and sounds like a recording part to do a loud ‘GOOO’ but is not on the final tracklisting.

Dry Kill Logic is one of those bands that stay special. They have proven this with the release of the EP earlier this year which featured two covers (Guns n’ Roses, Danzig) of high quality and a Dry Kill Logic feeling. And another important reason to like this band is the fact they cannot be compared to a lot of other bands because of their own sound. The dynamic engine writes fast and loud songs and a ballad like ‘In Memoria’ and place them on the same album.

If you liked the previous albums, check this one out. If you are unfamiliar with them, shame on you and check it out! If you don’t like this band you will not like this disc, deal with it! Dry Kill Logic is back, and now it is time for these guys to play a show in the Netherlands so we can finally see them!
