When an album has been in your possession quite a while and you're past the deadline of the review there are usually two options. It's an album that grabs you by the balls for a long time and makes it very hard to write something about it because you can't make up your mind. Or you're just so goddamn busy with your work that writing a review is the last thing you want to do when you come home. Well with The Devil Wears Prada it's exactly the last option. I've been so busy with my work that I like to apologize for being so late to all the TDWP fans. Oh and I hate abbreviations.

I don't know what the problem is with people that play in bands with crazy band names, The Devil Wears Prada, Funeral For A Friend, My Chemical Romance, etc. What's wrong with names like Slayer, Death and Cannibal Corpse? Simple names that make it easy to understand what metal or hardcore is all about. Well it's probably my own problem I guess but I instantly get itchy when I read names like this. But of course there's much more to a band than it's name.

Plagues is the second full length album of The Devil Wears Prada, that has about 135.000 myspace friends and over 6,3 millions plays to date. With their mixture of hardcore, emo and screamo they're ready to conquer the world. Well if you might believe me I think that's not going to happen very quickly. Most of the time I'm bored very easily during the songs.  Standard drumming combined with riffs that lack inspiration, and the screams are most of the time rather annoying. With songs like 'Goats On A Boat', 'HTML Rulez D00d', 'Don't Dink And Drance' and 'Reptar King Of The Ozone' (again the names) they try to entertain the listener for an entire album but they fail miserably.

Well I believe that The Devil Wears Prada is the right example that you can have a shitload of Myspace friends and a zillion plays on that page but still can't write a song that sounds pure, inspirational and most of all integer. If you're looking for a great new album to spend your hard earned money on, please don't pick this one. If you're looking for the next hype in hardcore land go to their myspace site buy their album and become a friend. Hell, for as long as I care join The Devil Wears Prada army but please don't bother me with it.

Bjorn not happy?

why the fuck would you name your metal band after a Chick-Lit novel?

Finally someone who give them a fair review! This band is mediocrity at its best. I hate those one-dimensional overhyped bands. I really cannot understand that this band has gotten a lot of good reviews.

I've never heard a single not of their music, but only because of their name I'm not even gonna try, like Lex says, why would you call your band after some "fashion-icon"? fags!
05-10-2007 12:54 - Sledgehammer Messiah
Maybe because it pisses people off?
05-10-2007 14:09 - Lex
that would rule!
05-10-2007 15:32 - Boek
to piss people off huh? well...that's ok as long as your music still rocks! but when both your music and your band name suck, I guess something is missing
05-10-2007 15:38 - Lex
yeah!

and I still don't care!
