Taking Back Sunday, Hellogoodbye, Green Lizard - Parteeey!
I was a bit disappointed that I missed the interview with Taking Back Sunday. I had a internship interview that day so that’s why. A good thing that our guy Spoeri did have the time and could replace me. So keep an eye on the interview section! We still  had the chance to see them (and others) play that night.

The first band that climbed up the stage was Hellogoodbye. When we saw their merchandise we were curious of what Hellogoodbye was all about. It were all colourful shirts with weird happy feelgood prints on it. Well, after seeing their show it got all clear. Their music is a combination of synth, power pop, rock-dance-roll and more stuff like that. Pretty hard to tell so you could better check it out on http://www.purevolume.com/hellogoodbye.
One thing I can tell is that they made one hell of a show that night! They are kinda geeky but know how to make a party. The show ended up in some kind of weird house-party..…singing Venga Boys songs….while wearing animal suits…and doing push-ups… But you know what… it rocked the place!

After that it was time for a more serious show from Green Lizard. The last time I saw them play was at the release party of Face Tomorrow’s second album The Closer You Get. The times before that were when I was like 14 years old or something? In the mean time Green Lizard got bigger and more mature. They played some ‘old classics’ from their album Identity but also a lot of new stuff. They actually did a pretty good job that night. Remy is a great singer and together with his brothers voice they make a good combo. Their music now is more sweeping and more heavy. Too bad there was not much variety which made it a bit tedious. But again..they did a good job that night! And rock on with that Gibson Explorer! Looks great!

And now..finally…Taking Back Sunday. One of the bands that always performs with enormous enthusiasm. They radiate nothing but positive vibes. Of course this show was to promote their new album Louder Now. So they played a lot of new songs and opened with “What’s It Feel To Be A Ghost”. Too bad the sound wasn’t really good that night. That gave me the feeling that it all didn’t came out like it should. Still, they all made it a typical Taking Back Sunday show. Adam still knows how to astonish people with his microphone swings. Though he had some problems reaching the high notes….but in total it still rocked like hell!

So after that we could go home pleased.. but next time I’m in Amsterdam, I won’t eat Italian. This is like the second time in a row that I had stomach ache after eating that. But  it didn’t ruin the night. It was very  nice to meet another yet unknown Metalrage crewmember. And of course it was great to see Hellogoodbye, Green Lizard and Taking Back Sunday.

Till next time,

Love Maurits
