Kruger, Fehler -
I remember the Swiss band Kruger playing at a little metal festival during the Eurosonic festival in Groningen. They were the first band to play and I remember liking them the best of all bands. But I couldn’t really remember the music anymore, which motivated me to check them out again in Tilburg.

The opening band tonight was Fehler, a Dutch four-piece that is really into experimental hardcore and doom metal. The band showed that they have potential and that they have some fresh ideas in the vein of bands like Pulling Teeth and some more doom orientated bands. Yet, they lacked the power and skills to really convince. I’d like to see these guys again in a couple of years.

What I did remember about the Kruger show I saw was that the vocalist was all over the room. Climbing in the speakers, standing on speakers and walking through the crowd. Tonight there wasn’t that much for him to climb into, but he compensated this by running around in front of the stage, jumping on and off the stage and mingling with the crowd during songs. I even got a compliment about my amazing beard from him! The music this band plays can be compared to a more aggressive version of Cult Of Luna, a more metal version you might say, like the band Knut, also from Switzerland. Tormented screams accompany devastating riffs that can either be quite slow or slightly up tempo. The busy (and very tight) drummer makes sure there isn’t too much repetitive stuff going on and keeps the flow of the music alive and kicking. All in all it was a very nice show to watch and listen to, check them out if you’re into the aforementioned stuff.
