Soundgarden leads lineup for Sub Pop Records' 25th anniversaryAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, Soundgarden will lead the lineup of acts scheduled to perform at the 25th anniversary celebration of Sub Pop Records, dubbed the label's "Silver Jubilee." The event will take place on July 13 in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood and will also feature appearances from other bands that got their start on Sub Pop, including Mudhoney and Tad. Members from each group, including Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil, announced the event through a video which can be seen below.
Other artists slated to show up include J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr., Greg Dulli of Afghan Whigs and many yet to be revealed.
The event will be free and will feature art exhibits, a record fair, food and drinks in addition to live music.
In 2008, Sub Pop celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2008 with a concert event that included a reunion performance by Green River — a band that featured Mark Arm and Steve Turner before they were in Mudhoney as well as Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament, who would go on to form Mother Love Bone, and, later, Pearl Jam.
