The Mars Volta - The Bedlam In Goliath
From the ashes of At The Drive Inn rose the phoenix...It was named The Mars Volta. The new band was formed by part time Dutch resident Omar Rodriguez Lopez and Cedric Bixler Zavala. It was an expirimental sound way beyond the first band that you either liked, or you didn't know what the hell you were listening to. If you're part of the latter group, I suggest you take some time to learn to listen to this. Now their new record...

I read in an interview that Omar records all the parts for the music and edit it separately. This way the musicians practically have no idea what the end product will be. To each his own method and this one works out great for their new record The Bedlam In Goliath, which also holds a performance by Red Hot Chili Peppers' John Frusciante. As usual the album is one big jam session from start to end! You have practically no idea what song you're in and you absolutely don't care! The album reaches its high point at 'Ouroborous'. What a great song this is! It starts with a great riff followed by a journey only a few bands in this world can offer!

The Mars Volta made a more than good album! If you like this kind of music, you're defenitely going to love The Bedlam In Goliath and, as stated earlier, if you don't like this kind of music, just give it some time to grow on you. Thank god for people making good music!
