And now for something completely different. Genghis Tron have just released their Relapse Records debut in the form of Board Up The House, with an amazing cover, and some even more amazing music. People that thought dance music would not be mixed with extreme metal will now have to shut up.

 

I listened to Genghis Tron’s previous album Dead Mountain Mouth once, and I immediately knew I was dealing with something different here. I heard breakcore and grindcore, in a not so conventional way (if this could be conventional to even begin with). But where the first record is far more extreme in the metal kind of way, this new release pays way more attention to the atmosphere in the songs, it even spaces out every once in a while (in a techno sort of way). And still the metal and grindcore is ever present, only way more subtle.

 

As you can conclude from this piece above, this is no music for your average metalhead. It takes an open mind towards more than one style of music, and a high tolerance level for freaky music. Therefore I think this is one of the greatest albums of this year already; the more I play it the more I become convinced of its greatness. It completely blows away their previous albums, and it makes my jaw drop song after song.

A new era of extreme music is coming upon us, and it will be without drummers. Genghis Tron are here to lead this new form of electronic grindcore into the right tracks. Prepare for the next generation of music to annoy the living shit out of everybody you know.
