Raunchy - Wasteland Discotheque

Two years after the release of Death Pop Romance Raunchy returns with Wasteland Discotheque. This Danish six-piece band combines aggressive metal with much melody and even a bit of pop music. This “futuristic hybrid metal”-band created their own signature sound with their previous release and with Wasteland Discotheque they just picked up where they left two years ago.

After a pretty standard metalcore-intro the band kicks off heavy with ‘Somewhere Along The Road’, a tight and representative song for which Raunchy stands nowadays: an up-tempo, well-produced track with both the screams and clean vocals sounding amazing. Although it all sounds very good, there is just one thing missing. Progression. They’ve managed to improve their own style, but this is just not enough for the fans. Just when you’re thinking about pushing the stop-button Raunchy comes up with a refreshing cover of Rockwell’s ‘Somebody’s Watching Me’. The danceable rhythm combined with nicely integrated synthesizer-parts and again a convincing clean voice gives the record just the bump that it needs.

In order to keep up with the rest of the modern metal genre they will have to make some more progression on future albums, but for now the modern metal fans will definitely be satisfied with this result.
