The Creepshow - Run For Your Life
Lock your doors, turn out the lights and say your prayers because The Creepshow is back with a new album that will leave you breathless and begging for more. At least that’s what the biography tells us about the latest effort of these horrorpunk rockers from Toronto. Run For Your Life is the name of their new epos.
Personally I don’t take all these horrorpunk rock bands very seriously and I guess I’m not the only one. After starting with a little intro just to scare the first people off, ‘Rue Morgue Radio’ kicks in. A song that’s so full of melody that you’ll instantly start tapping along or even worse, dance to it. While the slapping bass sound in the background is backed up by some tight drums, the guitars and vocals of the lovely Sarah Sin are on the forefront of the music.
Believe me if I say we should thank Steve Rizun (Protest The Hero, The Flatliners) for this. Not only did he manage to create a great sound, he also managed to make everything sound so spontaneous, you'd almost think that The Creepshow is really playing in the room you're at. Of course the vibe in the music contributes to this all, but overall you can hear that the band did have some great times during the recordings.
In the end I have to say that although I don’t take the so called horrorpunk genre very seriously, The Creepshow managed to convince me with this album. It’s full of great melodies, catchy vocals and even a keyboard player that fits the tone perfectly because he sets the right atmosphere in several songs. Just listen to ‘Demon Lover’ and ‘Run For Your Life´ and you’ll now what I mean. So, it's pretty obvious you should watch your back because the creeps are coming.
