Saralee - Damnation To Salvation
With Damnation To Salvation, Metalrage received the second full-length album of the Finnish gothic metal band Saralee. The past told us that Finland has proven itself to be the perfect ground for gothic orientated (metal) bands to conquer the rest of Europe and many other countries. Can Saralee also add anything to what already has been done?
The band describes itself as “one of the many uprising bands, which represent the quality of Finnish metal music” and I couldn’t have said it better actually. Saralee combines the rawness of a band like Sentenced with the sound of HIM and the poppy edge of The Rasmus to deliver a convincing product. During the first spin in your CD-player you already know all the lyrics for the choruses to sing along and there lays the power of their music.
Although someone else may call it too predictable, which I can’t invalidate, personally I think Saralee has made a catchy album that’s worth listening to. If you’re into bands like the aforementioned ones, this will definitely please you. This release is also available with a bonus-DVD with a ‘Making Of…’ and some promo videos, but due to the fact I only received the CD I can’t tell you if it is equally interesting.
