Therapy? - Crooked Timber
The once prodical sons called Therapy? bring us yet another disc for world domination. We all now them from there great nineties albums such as Troublegum and Infernal Love. Where some say Therapy? never quite lived up to the expectations they’ve set for themselves, others love the grungy garage sound they maintained throughout the years. If you’re in the latter group, you’ll love Crooked Timber. The classic Therapy? sound is heared right away on ‘The Head That Tried To Strangle Itself’ and goes on for the entire album! Great guitars (clean and crunch), fantastic drumming and that fantastic sleazy bass guitar sound! This album sounds a lot like the sound on their Nurse album, only the production is way better!
After the great opening and a fantastic title track they go on rocking with rock highlight ‘Blacken The Page’. After this song they slow it down with the almost ambient ‘Magic Mountain’, which is a bit off from the rest of the record. However; a great finish can be found in the sleazy rockin’ ‘Bad Excuse For Daylight’. If you’re into this band, Crooked Timber is a must have. If you’re not, don’t bother, because the things you didn’t like on their previous albums can be found on this one aswell!
