Toner Low - Toner Low II
For some reason I have no prior knowledge of the Dutch band Toner Low, but as soon as I cranked up their second full length Toner Low II, I became an instant fan. Why do you ask? Well, because this record features four tracks of the most heavy, monolithic doom this country has ever spewed out. Let’s review.

Alright, four tracks, all recorded in a length to fit one side of an LP (which is somewhere between 13 and 20 minutes). Utterly slow and extremely heavy and almost no actual vocals. Indeed, this is bong-smoking music. The songs all have a lengthy build up in them that explode in devastating doom metal, sheer heaviness of it all reigns supreme here. A fuzzy bass guitar, a roaring guitar, spacey samples and obliterating drums, that’s all there is to Toner Low. And that’s all they need.

If your cup of tea is psychedelic drone doom metal with repetitive riffs, minimal soundscapes and huge build-ups, Toner Low is here to make you a happy camper. This record trembles and roars on all sides, while still incorporating the traditional doom metal vibes in the music. Devastating beauty, drenched in THC. Just the way I like it! Check them out if you’re man enough…
