Hopesfall - A-Types

Again Roadrunner Records found our mailbox and they brought us the album A-Types of the band Hopesfall. After two years of touring they found their way to the studios again and after long days of work they were albe to release their 4th album on Trustkill/Roadrunner Records. Let us see what this new album is bringing us.

The album starts with the song It Happens. And it sure happens, strong guitar riffs start this emo cd. But soon the music becomes calmer. The clean singing during the songs sounds great and producer Steven Haigler has done a great job on this album.
When I read in various biographies that this band played heavy songs it seems that this album is a complete new direction for them. But I think it fits the musicians. Awesome transitions and splashing drums make the songs complete in all ways.

On this moment I am listening to Breathe From Coma. This song has got a great guitar sound in the background. This song is calm and heavy at the same time. A great riff halfway but simple and clean vocals mix up my thoughts. It has to be said that if the live vocal is half as good as on the album this is a talented singer.
Another song is the last one, called Per Sempre Marciamo. The second vocal line in this song can't be heard that well but it is the right volume and it jumps in on the right moments. Again the faster and calmer parts make this one a great song.

Now the artwork and booklet, the package looks great. A fat booklet with awesome graphics next to the glowing wings up front makes this album complete. If there is one way to sell your album to new people it is by the artwork. And this album has got a simple but interesting artwork. If I would see it in the store and got the money to buy it I would. But at least I would listen to the CD. The cd itself has got a yellow to red colour transition, simple but effective.

Again Roadrunner Records surprised me with a softer band. But it sure isn't bad music, it is great. The music is complete and I want to advise people that listen to emo/rock to give this album a try. At least listen to the album in a store or download the ecard and listen to some songs. Great guitar tunes and superb vocals is what makes this band.
