Dis - Escape to reality
Hm, a Dutch power-metalband, mean age 21, lots of compliments in the press, sounds interesting.

The sound is very good, a must have in power-metal. The music is ok, strong riffs, nice drums and heavy bass lines. Remarkable is the use of a violin by the singer. The vocals are a little bit disappointing. I mean, I don’t doubt the capability of the front man, but to me, as a real fan of the genre, the voice seems to be a little bit, let’s call it soft. It could be heavier, with more energy.
That is, for the low notes, the high ones are beautiful. And that’s my point to this band. The structures of the songs are seriously very, very good. I don’t hear any annoying passages or bad melodies. The songs are speeded up and slowed down at the right moments, something that not every band has got, but the little bit of extra to pull DIS to the top of the scene is missing. Therefore, I miss the strength, the power, the chest forward in times of battle.

I could certainly recommend DIS to anyone who is interested in any kind of experimental power-metal. I’m very interested in their live performance, but this cd will not be rotated in my cd-player that much.
