Scrotum - Woodenshoe Penetration
Due to my very busy period for school, I wasn’t able to write a review every time I got the album. I do have a one week holiday now and I intend to cover up some tracks. First review will be for Scrotum, a Dutch band that has (not recently) brought out their album called Woodenshoe Penetration. Their site isn’t ready at the time I write this, so I couldn’t find any info about the album, except for the biography they added to the promo. But of course I’ve lost that sheet.
Scrotum is providing us with some very decent death metal. The sound is very raw and is totally self produced, which definitely gains my compliments. The originality isn’t that high, but the songs are interesting enough to keep my head-nodding attention. I expected somewhat more funny matters beside the album cover and the song titles, like Lager Beer and Mighty Brontopenis. I do not exactly know what else to mention about this album. It contains 5 songs, and the album’s length is somewhere near 20 minutes. The music is in the veins of the early Skinless and definitely a share of Cannibal Corpse. The vocals are also raw and perfectly match the brutal slay riffs, like in Mighty Brontopenis.
It’s quite a pity that this album last for only 22 minutes, but those 22 minutes are not boring at all. The music is suitable for a lot of death metal fans and I’m awaiting their next work, because I would like to hear more of it. Give it a try, you should be able to find some tracks on the internet.
