Throwdown - Vendetta
Once again it is time for one of the promising bands of 2005. This time it is the band Throwdown which I already knew but got my true attention when I saw them play on the Ozzfest 2004 tour on MTV. The band has got its roots in Orange County and is just releasing their fourth album.

Well, let me start with the style of the music. It is Hardcore with some metal influences. I refuse to call it metalcore since every single band releasing an album is put into this genre. You can compare this one with Hatebreed. And just like this band the group of fans behind the band is huge and the people are loyal to the band. Besides this the band has been influenced by metal legends Pantera, who isn’t?

I have to say that the first time I listened to this album these guys blew me away. Now, a couple of weeks later this album already lost my attention. I really like the first track of the album which is called ‘We Will Rise’. The band creates a huge statement here.
Just like colleagues Hatebreed they are singing about life and this is being released in extreme vocals and smashing guitars.

The problem with this album is they are just trying too hard. And this doesn’t make this a bad album but after a couple of rounds it just gets boring. Another minor is that within this genre it is pretty hard to make creative songs. And that is something Throwdown isn’t really trying, a lot of songs are like each other. Sometimes they are bringing in a really cool riff but just add some original stuff into this genre and the music can be so much better.

But in the end it is a good album Throwdown is presenting us. The band has progressed since the last time I heard some music of them and if they keep following this path, maybe they will convince me with a their next effort! If you are into Hatebreed you should try this album, you are going to love this album.
