Leng Tch'e - The Process Of Elimination
"Leng Tch’e": Death by a thousand cuts, an ancient Chinese torture ritual where the victim has been doped up and is being cut into bits. The victim doesn’t feel a thing of this procedure until its far too late and death is unavoidable."

Belgium’s Leng Tch'e are already having a firm reputation with previous outings "Death By A Thousand Cuts" and "ManMadePredator", so I was looking forward to their record. Especially since this is the band’s first "major label" outing, and as you might know, bands sometimes change with those kind of deals. I’m not the biggest grind freak in the world but this band could always be appreciated in Casa de Carn. Hell, we even used a Leng Tch'e song as a backing track for a school presentation!

Well, when ‘The Fist of Leng Tch’e’ kicks in you know that the band has maintained their full force and no nonsense approach. Fast grind with some hardcore and stoner influences to spice things up. Still not music for the masses, and the band will probably never ever record a track that will make it to the radio.

The band really shines with tracks like "Glamourgirl Concubine", injecting some quality stonerrock riffs within a quality grind mold. In "Patriotic Pleasure" we even run into a sort of melodic guitarlead. I want more of that! "Clarity Denied" has a great midsection that would work great with any bay area thrash band. I could pick out personal highlights for every song (like the swingfeel in "Mediocrity Contest, or that dirty streetrock riff and organ and solo in "PIMP"..yes, an organ!) but that would be a bit too much. But "Reality? TV" could be a Meshuggah-meets-Nasum song..

Personally I enjoy Leng Tch’e the most when they take their foot of the gaspedal and use some quality, headbangable riffs, groovy moments or just anything that doesnt go –taktaktaktaktaktaktak- for 1,5 minutes. The non-grind influences really make this record work for me, and with 24 tracks within 34 minutes "The Process of Elimination" is a quality effort by the band. If this style of music isn't your thing, you will not be convinced by this record but if Leng Tch’e manages to continue with producing quality grind records they will be up there with the greats.
