Debauchery - Torture Pit
Debauchery did not ring any bells in my head, when I received the album. I was curious and listened to the album when I went to our own rehearsal. Man, I was stunned! Total ultra cool death metal in the veins of Bolt Thrower and many other bands like Malevolent Creation, Cannibal Corpse and probably the biggest influence: Six Feet Under. I also was surprised when I read that this band hails from Stuttgart, Germany . Let’s switch to the album.

The album is entitled Torture Pit and the first song is also the title song. Monstrous slow riffs, backed up with real nice drumming are definitely the go for Debauchery. The link to Six Feet Under is everywhere. The music, the hooks, even the vocals are alike with Barnes. The several songs on the album are quite variegated, because you hear many styles coming back. In Cult Of Gore for instance, Debauchery suddenly turns into a black metal band. This isn’t the only wacky thing, because they also use nice guitar solos. Later, I found out that Primal Fear guitarist Tom Naumann played those solo parts. Nice shit!

The majority of the songs are class A death metal that rumbles mountains and spills vaginal liquids, but the last 2 songs on the album are totally not that. I was really surprised by the last song which is an acoustic version of Blood For The Blood God, which they have called the ‘Pussy Version’. I can’t explain how this sounds; you just have to check it out.

I can write eternal poetry for this band, but I’ll stick it short with saying that I really enjoyed this album for its total length. Not a bad album, if you ask me. Go check it out. The originality is not everything for this band, but those outlets make the album really worthwile.
